MLA Kshirsagar to seek Rs 1,500cr for ring road network to enhance link with Shaktipeeth highway in Kolhapur

Kolhapur: Shiv Sena MLA Rajesh Kshirsagar on Tuesday said he would demand Rs 1,500 crore from state govt to create a network of ring roads around the city to connect with the Shaktipeeth highway passing through the district. His statement comes amid farmers' opposition to the Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth highway."The Shaktipeeth highway will pass through Kolhapur district. We look to create a network of ring roads from Kolhapur city to connect with the highway to increase the connectivity of the city and ease vehicular movement. The KMC administrator has been directed to propose this project. We will demand Rs 1,500 crore for this project from state govt," Kshirsagar said.The MLA conducted a meeting with KMC administrator K Manjulekshmi, additional commissioner Rahul Rokade and city engineer Netradeep Sarnobat on Tuesday evening. Kshirsagar said Eknath Shinde, as the chief minister, had promised Rs 50 crore for the main administrative building of the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC). "The fund for flood control has also been increased to Rs 3,700 crore. Our efforts are underway to get Rs 500 crore under the Mahalaxmi temple tourism development plan," he said.The MLA said Kolhapur city would not grow till its delimitation. "Kolhapur city will not progress without delimitation. We are insisting on increasing the city limits. I will discuss this with CM Devendra Fadnavis and deputy CM Eknath Shinde. No matter what happens, we will continue to insist that the city's limit should be increased," Kshirsagar said.
