MLA Kshirsagar reviews progress of convention centre in Kolhapur city

Kolhapur: On Monday, MLA Rajesh Kshirsagar, along with other officials from the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation and the public works department, visited the site at Rajaram Lake, where construction of an international-standard convention centre is in progress, with Rs 277 crore allotted by the state govt.During the inspection, Kshirsagar reviewed the project's progress with the officials and instructed that quality should be of the highest standards and that there should be no delay in the project's execution. He directed that the centre should not be limited merely to hosting political or social events, but should also serve as a suitable venue for major conferences across the industrial, commercial and cultural sectors.Kshirsagar said the project is expected to take approximately two years to complete. "This International Convention Centre will feature state-of-the-art amenities, including an auditorium with a seating capacity of approximately 2,000, a banquet hall, conference halls, an amphitheatre with a seating capacity of 1,500, a cafeteria and an exhibition centre. These facilities are certain to prove beneficial in boosting the IT sector, various social organisations, educational institutions, entrepreneurs and Kolhapur's overall economy."Kshirsagar expressed confidence that in the coming times, the convention centre would usher in a new chapter of progress for Kolhapur's industrial, tourism and cultural sectors, ultimately serving as a pivotal milestone in the district's overall development.Those present on the occasion included KMC chief Rajendra Bharud, superintending engineer of PWD Tushar Burud, executive engineer Rohit Tondale, city engineer Ramesh Maskar and city town planner N S Patil, among others.
