Kolhapur: Even as the maximum temperatures in Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara and Solapur districts continue to remain on the higher side, a sudden drop has been witnessed in minimum temperatures. As a result, the days are hot and humid, while the nights are cold.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature is expected to plunge further, but the days will continue to remain hot and humid.
Akash Yadav, who sells winter accessories at Rajarampuri seventh lane, said, “The fluctuating temperature is affecting our sales. The demand for winter accessories is uneven. As it is not very cold, accessories like monkey caps, mufflers, shawls, etc are not in demand.”
With a drop in minimum temperature, the difference between the maximum and minimum temperature — known as the diurnal temperature — is increasing. As per the IMD, the minimum temperature in Kolhapur on Tuesday dropped by 3 degrees to reach 16.7 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature was constant at 31.1 degrees Celsius and the diurnal gap was 14.4 degrees. In Sangli district, the minimum temperature dropped by 2 degrees to reach 14.6 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature was constant at 32.6 degrees Celsius, with a diurnal gap of 18 degrees.
Meanwhile, in Satara, the minimum temperature dropped by 3 degrees to reach 13.9 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature was constant at 32.3 degrees Celsius with a diurnal gap of 18.4 degrees. In Solapur, the minimum temperature dropped by 1 degree to reach 16.5 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature increased by 3 degrees to reach 33.4 degrees Celsius with a diurnal difference of 16.9 degrees.
