. That is why, the district is now busy planning a hero’s welcome for Pruthviraj Patil, the 20-year-old wrestler who recently won the Maharashtra Kesari title in Satara. Several rallies and felicitation programmes have been planned. A huge procession will be taken out on Friday in which Pruthviraj Patil will sit atop an elephant.
Head of the Kumbhi Kasari sugar factory and former MLA Chandradreep Narke said, “Pruthviraj Patil is from Devthane village, which is in the region of the sugar factory. He receives sponsorship from the sugar factory. He has brought glory to Kolhapur by winning the Maharashtra Kesari title after 21 years. We have planned a procession with Pruthviraj sitting on an elephant. The rally will start from Sangrul phata and go to the Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj statue at the sugar factory. Other wrestlers who won medals will also be felicitated.”
Mahadevrao Adgule, the general secretary of Jilha Rashtriya Talim Sangh, said, “We will felicitate Pruthviraj Patil and other wrestlers at an event at
