Kolhapur civic body to hold poll for committee posts March 11
Kolhapur: The election for the posts of chairman of the standing committee, transport committee, and women and child welfare committee of the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation will be held on March 11 in a special meeting chaired by additional district collector Sanjay Shinde. Nomination papers must be filed on March 6. The distribution of nomination papers commenced on Wednesday.In the KMC assembly, Congress has a strength of 34 corporators, BJP has 26 corporators, Shiv Sena has 15 corporators, and NCP has 4 corporators, whereas Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Jan Surajya Shakti Party have one corporator each.

KMC additional commissioner Ravikant Adsul said, "Applications will be distributed on March 4 and 5 between 11am and 2pm. After filling the forms, they are to be submitted to the municipal secretary in the standing committee hall on March 6 between 3pm and 5pm. After the committee meeting begins on March 11, the applications will be scrutinised first. Valid applications will be declared. After that, a period of 15 minutes will be given for withdrawal of applications as per the protocol."Earlier, in the General Body meeting of KMC held on Feb 20, appointments of 16 corporators for the standing committee, 12 corporators for the transport committee, and 9 corporators for the women and child welfare committee took place, along with the appointment of eight nominated corporators.
For the standing committee, Congress appointed a seven-member panel comprising corporators Indrajit Bondre, Pravin Kesarkar, Pratapsinh Jadhav, Amar Samarth, Subhash Buchade, Pravin Sonawane, and Pratidnya Utture. BJP appointed a five-member panel of Vishal Shirale, Rajnanda Mahadik, Neha Tendulkar, Baban Mokashi, and Purva Rane. Shiv Sena appointed a three-member panel of Archana Pagar, Sheela Sonule, and Anuradha Khedkar, whereas NCP appointed Adil Faras.For the transport committee, Congress appointed five corporators: Durvas Kadam, Umesh Powar, Mahendra Korade, Shridhar Gadgil, and Akshay Shetke. BJP appointed Prasad Jadhav, Hemant Aradhye, Santosh Lad, and Prashant More. Shiv Sena appointed Satyajit Jadhav and Rohan Atigre, whereas NCP appointed Manasi Lolage.In the women and child welfare committee, Congress appointed Aruna Gawali, Dhanashree Korawi, Anuradha Mulik, and Jayashri Kamble. BJP appointed Vandana Mohite, Nilima Patil, and Deepa Thanekar. Shiv Sena appointed Prajakta Jadhav and Kousar Bagwan.
