KOLHAPUR: The owner of a garden in the Nagala Park area of Kolhapur city has been booked for beating a tea stall vendor for allegedly plucking guavas from a tree in his garden.

The incident took place on Sunday evening. The complainant, Dattatray Jitendra Kulkarni, runs a tea stall near the zilla parishad office.

On Sunday evening, while Kulkarni was passing by the house owned by Sambhaji Krishna Patil, children playing in the area requested him to pluck a few guavas for them. Kulkarni plucked a few fruits from a branch growing outside the garden compound. Patil saw this, and attacked Kulkarni with a stick. Kulkarni was injured and was rushed to Chhatrapati Pramila Raje hospital. He was then discharged after treatment. He approached Shahupuri police station and registered a complaint. Accordingly, Patil has been booked under IPC sections 324 and 34.
