KOLHAPUR: Five former BJP corporators from Solapur have tendered their resignations and are set to join the K Chandrashekar Rao-led BRS.
It will be the first time that Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), which is in power in neighbouring Telangana, will see an influx of BJP leaders if the five ex-corporators join the party since its foray into the state.
The move is also likely to boost the BRS and is being touted a result of the Telangana CM’s three rallies — Nanded, Kandhar Loha and Aurangabad — in the state since making his national ambitions clear in December last year.

The former corporators — Nagesh Valyal, Santosh Bhosale, Rajashri Chavan, Jugunbai Ambewale and Suresh Patil — are likely to visit Hyderabad on Saturday and meet KCR, sources said. Nagesh Valyal, a two-time corporator and son of Lingaraj Valyal, the BJP’s first ever MP from the district, is seen to be leading the exodus.
