Distance edu admission process starts
The admission process for the Shivaji University Kolhapur (SUK) distance education courses has started at the Centre for Distance Education (CDE), according to a press statement of the centre.
Earlier last year, new regulations — the UGC (Open and Distance learning) Regulations, 2017 and subsequent amendments in 2018 — were brought in to regulate the conduct of distance learning programmes by various varsities in the country, after which SUK’s courses have been given the nod. It added that 13 courses of the SUK have got a nod from the UGC. The admission process has been started for MA English, MA Economics, MSc Mathematics, and MCom (valuation of real estate).
The press statement read that the last date for an application with regular fee is February 1, while with a late fee it is February 9. Students will have a last chance to apply for the said courses with a super-late fee till February 15. It further said that students can visit a nearby study centre to learn about the admission process as well as the availability of the courses.
The CDE offers admission to various programs in its respective study centres across the Sangli, Satara and Kolhapur districts. According to SUK officials, detailed information about the admission process and the courses can also be found on the www.unishivaji.ac.in website.
Dr Gunjakar selected as INYAS Member : Dr Jayavant Laxman Gunjakar, who is working as “Ramanujan Fellow” since 2017, in the D Y Patil Education society, Kolhapur has recently been selected as a member of the Indian National Young Academy of Science (INYAS), New Delhi. This prestigious membership is for 5 years.
Student conference by ISTE: A student conference was organized at the Wathar-based Ashokrao Mane group of institutions in association with the Indian Society for Technical Education earlier last week, read a press statement from the college. It was the 16th Maharashtra-Goa state-level student conference.
Dr Umakant Patil selected as Young Associate: Dr Umakant Patil, who is working as a ‘DST inspire Fellow’, in the D Y Patil Education society, Kolhapur has recently been elected as a Young Associate Member of the Maharashtra Academy of Sciences, read a press statement from the private varsity. This is a scheme mainly directed towards young, active and dynamic researchers engaged in activities associated with the popularization and promotion of science, it added.
Publication of Jain Literature on Jan 16: The Marathi Department of SUK, in association with the Bharatiya Jnanpith, has organized a book publication ceremony on January 16 at the city-based Shahu smarak bhavan. The book by Dr Gomteshwar Patil on Marathi Jain Literature will be published on the said date, read a press statement from the varsity.
