Details sought from mall owner associated with MLC Satej Patil

Kolhapur: The civic administration has issued a notice to the owner of a mall in the city, who is associated with a relative of a Congress leader, seeking details of the shops in its premises.

Tararani Aghadi corporators Sunil Kadam and Satyajit Kadam have alleged that there were some irregularities in the property tax paid by the owners of the mall since its inception a few years ago. A complaint has been registered with the property tax department of Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (

KMC

). The department has issued a notice to the owner of the mall, Sanjay Patil, seeking details of the agreements worked out with the shop operators.

The complaint stated that the rent agreements were not given to the civic administration and that the property tax assessment was not based on rent basis, which is usually higher as compared to the tax charged from the owners.

Sunil Kadam said, “False documents were shown to KMC. We are going to demand a high-level enquiry in the matter.”

. Ruturaj Patil is Sanjay Patil’s son and grandson of educationist D Y Patil. The Patil family and the Congress supporters claimed that the allegations were being levelled to malign the image of the family and gain political mileage.

Superintendent of the property tax department, KMC, Diwakar Karande said, “We have asked for the details. We can comment over the allegations only after studying the case.”
