Cong & Sena eye huge gains, say PM Modi’s govt on its way out

Kolhapur: Senior politicians of MVA constituents on Thursday said the alliance was headed for huge gains in the Lok Sabha election in the state and that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central govt was on its way out.
Senior state Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat said there was a wave against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that the Modi government was set to go, paving way for INDIA govt at the centre.
Thorat was in Kolhapur on Thursday evening to campaign for party’s Kolhapur Lok Sabha candidate Shahu Chhatrapati.
“The voting in the second phase of LS election will be held on Friday. We received a good response in the first phase and are expecting a big victory. In the country, there is a wave and that wave is against PM Modi. People don’t believe in what PM Modi says these days as all his statements are political,” Thorat said.
“He is twisting the manifesto of the Congress party. But, people have understood this and the Modi govt is set to go, while INDIA govt is on its way,” Thorat added.
Deputy Leader of Shiv Sena (UBT) Sushma Andhare said the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) would win more than 30 seats in Maharashtra in the Lok Sabha election.
Addressing a press conference in Kolhapur on Thursday, Andhare said BJP was trying to put pressure on the opposition parties by using central agencies like ED and CBI.
“People have taken this election in their hands. In Vidarbha, the polling percentage is less not only because of the heatwave, but also because of EVMs. People still have doubts about these voting machines. The voting is decreasing owing to the feeling that people’s voted won’t reach their desired candidates.” Andhare said.
“Instead of asking for votes in the name of religion and caste, the PM should ask for votes on development work he has done in the last 10 years,” he said.
Addressing a public rally later in the Sadar Bazaar area, Andhare said, “Where is ‘Modi Ki Guarantee?’ The bigger the corruption, the bigger is ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’. Entry into the BJP is decided based on corruption. If Kolhapur’s guardian minister Hasan Mushrif, who was earlier alleged of corruption, is given a clean cheat, then why is Mushrif not filing a case of defamation against BJP’s Kirit Somaiya?
“PM Modi, while addressing a rally, had alleged that the NCP was involved in corruption of Rs 70,000 crore. Within three days after the comment, BJP offered deputy chief minister’s post to NCP’s Ajit Pawar. This is Modi ki Guarantee,” Andhare said.
