NEW DELHI: Tension gripped Kolhapur city’s Siddharthnagar area night after a violent clash broke out between two communities, officials said on Friday.
According to reports, 2 vehicles were set ablaze and many were vandalised.
Kolhapur SP Yogesh Kumar Gupta said, "Due to a misunderstanding between two communities near CPR Hospital, a tense situation had arisen. The police reached the spot and took action."
"The situation is now peaceful. Senior leaders of both communities have also appealed to maintain peace. The public is requested not to pay attention to rumours," he added further.
