But in the last three years, only 30% of the work has been completed. We demand that the programme coordinator appointed by the state government be suspended immediately and the work be handed over to KMC officials."
The deadline for the construction of the internal city roads under the scheme launched in 2011 ended May this year and just 30% work of constructing 50.75 Km roads was completed. The KMC has even blacklisted the contractors and have retendered the work.
KMC was the first municipal corporation along with Ahmednagar and other three municipal corporations in the state which had approached the state government. Subhash Ramugade, a BJP corporator, demanded that the work should be handed over the division ward offices for further implementation.
Responding to the issue, civic administration has requested time to discuss the issue with the higher authorities.
The major roads which were to be constructed under Nagarrothan are Rajarampuri main road, Siddharth nagar to Crematorium, Senapati Bapat road to University road and Rankala stand to Shinganapur Naka.
