On Sunday evening, the city witnessed rainfall of 3.9mm that lasted the whole day. The high intensity rain kept most of the roads empty during the day. It came as a surprise for people at the popular shopping destinations in the Rajarampuri and Mahadwar road areas. The major shopping hubs in the city have already started displaying new products ahead of the Ganesh festival.

The city was overcast since Sunday and it started raining around 10am. Intermittent showers continued till late afternoon. The cloud cover continued till sunset.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that there would be intense showers in most areas of the Konkan and Vidarbha regions over the next 48, while central parts of the state would receive intermittent showers in some areas. This further brings down the probability of more showers in upcoming days in Kolhapur city.

The IMD has stated that the intensity of the showers would be higher in the western parts of the district in the Sahyadri mountains. Most of the dams in the district are located in the western tehsils and are filled up to capacity.

The Arabian Sea currently does not have any major meteorological activity and so there is hardly any advancement of a major monsoon towards Maharashtra. Satellite images have shown an monsoon advancing towards the Kerala coast, but it would take more than a week's time to arrive in central India.
