Ashadi-Ekadashi, Eid-al-Adha to be celebrated with fervour today
Kolhapur: All preparations for Ashadi-Ekadashi at the Prati-Pandharpur Vitthal temple in Nandwal village, Kolhapur district have been completed.
The Nagar Pradakshina of the palanquin procession (dindi) started from Nathagole Talim area, on Wednesday in the presence of collector Rahul Rekhawar. On Thursday morning, the dindi will leave for Nandwal on foot from Vitthal temple at Mirajkar Tikti.
Meanwhile, due to the ringan ceremony at Puikhadi and considering the huge rush of devotees arriving at Nandwal Vitthal temple, the district administration will keep the Vashi phata to Nadwal village route closed for all vehicles.

Jaital phata to Nandwal village and Bhima Shankar mandir phata to Nadwal route will also be kept closed. All MSRTC buses and heavy vehicles going to and coming from Konkan via Radhanagari will proceed via Kalamba, Ispurli, Shelewadi, Parite Phata, Bhogavati route.
Eid-al-Adha (Bakri Eid) will be celebrated on Thursday. Several mosques in the city will offer namaz (prayers) together, to stand for world peace. The main namaz at the Muslim boarding in Dasara chowk will be held at 9am. Ahead of this, Bindu chowk, Bagal chowk and the KMC building area witnessed a rush of people shopping for the festival.
As the Bakri Eid holiday was postponed to Thursday, Shivaji University cancelled all papers scheduled for that day and postponed these papers to Sunday.
