6 years’ RI for assaulting minor girl

Kolhapur: Kolhapur's court on Thursday sentenced an accused to six years of rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor girl.
The accused man is a resident of Kolhapur and was arrested in 2018. He was accused of kidnapping a minor girl belonging to the family of one of his relatives.
According to the police statement, the accused took her to Sangli district, where he committed the heinous act.He remained absent for several days. However, the Kolhapur cops managed to arrest him and rescue the minor girl.
The public prosecutor, Amita Kulkarni, said, “Special district judge announced the sentence.
The court upheld the statements of the victim and other eyewitnesses to arrive at the conclusion. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the accused.”
