KOLHAPUR: The
district police
have ordered externment of a gang of six criminals from Kolhapur and Sangli districts for a year. The criminals were operating in Shahapur and Ichalkaranji areas and were involved in illegal activities like extortion, attempt to murder and robbery.
Immediately after the order, police detained five persons but the leader of the gang, identified as
Praveen Rawal
, maanged to escape.
The criminals have been identified as Ajit Appasaheb Naik, Akshay Gopal Kadam, Aniket Shivaji Patil, Shubham Balasaheb Kanhe and Sandip Rajaram Shelake (all residents of Ganesh Nagar, Ichalkaranji).

, special inspector general, Kolhapur range had ordered all police stations in the district to prepare list of culprits involved in illegal activities and send proposals to the superintendent of police to extern them for a year.
Sitaram Dubal, inspector in charge of Shahapur police station, said, “We had sent a proposal to the office of the superintendent of police to extern these criminals and on Thursday SP
Sanjay Mohite issued orders to extern them.”
We immediately nabbed five of the criminals but the leader of the gang escaped. We will soon nab him extern him, he said.
