KOHIMA:
Nagaland chief minister Shurhozelie Liezietsu has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expedite the implementation of the framework agreement signed between the Centre and NSCN (I-M) On August 3, 2015.
"This bold agreement will finally resolve the political issues, allowing a vibrant Nagaland to participate and be a part of the march towards a great India," said Liezietsu on Sunday. He was speaking at a meeting of the governing council of
NITI Aayog in New Delhi.
On the agenda items on rationalization of Centre-sponsored schemes, skill development and Swachh Bharat Mission, elimination of poverty and agriculture development, the chief minister agreed on the recommendations submitted to the NITI Aayog.
"On the appraisal of the 12th Five Year Plan, I wish to comment that there has frankly been disruption in the implementation of various projects approved by the then Planning Commission," the chief minister said.
He added that NITI Aayog's recommendations should be treated as binding on other ministries, including the Union finance ministry.
"I wish to request the honourable PM to reconsider the problems faced by special category sates, particularly Nagaland, and approve the Special Plan Assistance backlog. The unfinished projects will otherwise never be completed by the meagre resources made available to the state," said Liezietsu.
Regarding GST, the CM said Nagaland has already enrolled 54% of the taxpayers online. The remaining taxpayers are being encouraged to enroll at the earliest.
