Ernakulam: Youth held for sexually harassing college student

KOCHI: A 25-year-old man was on Thursday arrested by Ernakulam Rural police for sexually harassing a college student.
The person has been identified as Bishwajith Sarkar of West Bengal. According to police, the student was accosted by the accused at Vazhakulam Junction on Sunday when she was walking. The accused tried to forcefully hold her. As soon as she raised an alarm, the accused ran away from the spot.Soon, the police were intimated.
Thadiyittaparambu police conducted a primary investigation to find the accused and found that he had left for his hometown via train.
Police later found that he had boarded a Chennai-bound train and was planning to travel home from Chennai. Rural police then contacted the Railway Protection Force in Chennai and sought their help. RPF personnel spotted him and detained him at Chennai.
A team from Thadiyittaparambu police took him into custody from Chennai. He was produced before the court and was remanded in judicial custody.
