Yosemite National Park deaths: This Malayali techie couple loved their adventures

KANNUR/KOTTAYAM: They loved adventures and shared it with the world. Even when they ‘lived on the edge’ (literally), they were aware of the risks. The US-based Malayali techie couple – who called themselves ‘lunatic adventurers’ – treasured everything from urban landscapes to breathtaking cliffs.


But for Vishnu Viswanath (29) and Meenakshi Moorthy (29), the lust for wild quests ended abruptly at

Yosemite National Park

in

California

’s Sierra Nevada Mountains last week, when they fell off a cliff while trying to click a selfie.

But, everybody is baffled as they knew the risks of such adventures and had warned people about it. Meenakshi, who described herself as mermaid haired wanderer with a sweet and sparkly outside that channelled a wild-and-wandering spirit inside, had cautioned others about such risks.

She had captioned a photograph on her Facebook page like this: “A lot of us including yours truly, is a fan of daredevilry attempts of standing at the edge of cliffs, and skyscrapers,but did you know that wind gusts can be fatal??? Is our life just worth one photo??”

‘Living life on the edge’ read the caption for the photograph that Vishnu shot at North Rim Grand Canyon, Cape Royal Point. They maintained a website, ‘holidays and happily ever afters’, in which they shared their joy of travelling.

Vishnu–son of doctors MV Viswanathan and Suhasini, who run Shreyas Hospital at Kathiroor in

Kannur

and Meenakshi – daughter of S R Moorthy and Chitra from

Kottayam

– had finished their BTech in 2010 from College of Engineering in Chengannur. Later, they migrated to USA and spent their free time travelling. Vishnu’s parents have already left for California while his brother Jishnu, settled in Melbourne, has reached USA. The couple tied the knot at Guruvayur temple four years ago.
