NEW DELHI: A woman and her two daughters were found dead on the railway track in Kerala's
Kottayam on Friday morning, police said.

The victims were identified as Shiny Kuriakose (42) and her two daughters, Aleena (11) and Ivana (10), who resided in Parolikal, Ettumanoor, according to officials.

Officials reported that the Kottayam-Nilambur Road Express struck them at 5.20 am. The loco pilot's statement indicated that the three individuals jumped before the oncoming train.

Upon receiving notification of the incident, the Ettumanoor police arrived at the location.

Law enforcement officials noted that the bodies were found severely damaged on the railway tracks, hampering the identification process.

The case has been registered by Ettumanoor police, and the bodies were transported to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital mortuary.

Police indicated that whilst the precise cause remains unclear, preliminary investigations point towards family-related issues as a potential reason for suicide.

According to police reports, Shiny had been residing at her Parolikal residence for nine months following her separation from her husband, who originated from Thodupuzha.
