Water Metro to get new hybrid boat

Kochi: The Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) is in the final process of delivering another boat to Kochi Water Metro Limited (KWML).CSL had received the order to manufacture a total of 23 electric hybrid boats. Among these, 18 boats were already delivered and some of the remaining boats are expected to be delivered in the coming months.Currently, KWML is operating boats on six routes connecting different regions of the city. With the delivery of the new boat, the frequency of the services will be increased and it will help in preventing long queues at the terminals during peak hours.KWML authorities said that they are in the process of launching the service on Mattancherry and Willingdon Island. "We have already issued a tender for the construction of a terminal at Ernakulam Jetty area. We can operate service to Mattancherry from Ernakulam boat jetty once it opens," said a KWML source.
