IDUKKI: Following heavy rain which lashed the district in the last 24 hours the

water level

in Idukki reservoir continued to rise, which reached 2,380.64 ft on Wednesday, meanwhile, the water level in Mullaperiyar dam was at 126.06ft. The full reservoir level of Idukki dam is 2,403ft and that of Mullaperiyar is 142ft.

At present, there is no need to open the shutters of Idukki reservoir. Normally we issue alerts when the water level reaches 2,394ft. At present there is no chance of the water level reaching the maximum reservoir level,” said a KSEB official.

KSEB officials said the

dams

in the state had a healthy storage level now and it was enough to meet the power requirements for next summer. The total storage in the dams on Wednesday was at 78% of total capacity.
