PALAKKAD: The mother of the deceased Walayar dalit girls has demanded a reinvestigation by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) under the supervision of Kerala high court.
“The retrial ordered by the high court is not enough, but a reinvestigation of the case is required to bring out the truth and punish the guilty,” she told reporters in Walayar on Wednesday
Reacting to the HC order cancelling the Pocso court order acquitting the three accused in the case, she said, “Action should also be taken against the police officials who concluded that both the girls had committed suicide.”
The Walayar Neethi Samara Samithi said it will approach the Supreme Court seeking a reinvestigation of the case.

Meanwhile, the former public prosecutor who handled the case, Jalaja Madhavan, said she was removed from the post during the trial to sabotage the case. “Reopening the case based on existing evidence will not get the accused punished. So a fresh investigation is absolutely necessary,” she said.
The police investigation said the younger girl was also found to have committed suicide. This finding is contrary to facts, Jalaja said.
