Kochi: City corporation will soon present in the council the local area plan (LAP) to be implemented in Vyttila. Once the council gives its nod, the draft LAP will be forwarded to state govt.
"Govt can make changes in the draft, if needed, and approve it. Then a notification will be issued. The LAP will give a clear picture of development and other projects planned in the area," said mayor V K Minimol. "The LAP will help us identify and develop various facilities, including roads and leisure places," she said.
Kochi corporation prepared Vyttila LAP with an emphasis on innovative development concept of transit-oriented development. The plan includes approximately 105 hectares within a 500-m radius of Vyttila Metro Station, incorporating parts of divisions 44, 45, 46, 47 and 48 in Vyttila. The LAP includes several projects, such as the development of Vyttila Junction, flyover beautification, Vyttila North bus station, street development, Mobility Hub Phase 2 and a food street.
Before finalising the draft LAP with public participation, Kochi corporation and LSGD planning organised an exhibition at Kunnara Park in Thaikkudam on Sunday. People used it as an opportunity to express objections, suggestions and opinions regarding the draft plans related to Vyttila's development.
