KOCHI:
Muvattupuzha vigilance court
on Tuesday ordered quick verification against project director and chief engineer of the
Kerala State Transport Project
(KSTP) and five others in connection with alleged irregularities in construction of the Muvattupuzha –
Kothamangalam
state highway.
As per the petition, lodged by
Sabu John Marady
, the respondents in the case gave undue advantage to the contractor and the road was constructed without abiding specifications of the Public Works department. The quality of the road was also compromised by retaining the old tar road in the middle in order to reduce the cost of the construction. Sabu alleges that the government will suffer loss to the exchequer very soon due to damage to the road.
Road Safety commissioner is one of the respondent in the case.
Enquiry commissioner and special judge P Madhavan forwarded the order to vigilance director and asked to produce the quick verification report before June 30.
