Union minister Alphons Kannanthanam assures teachers over salary hike, other demands

) said that he will take up the issues the teachers had raised regarding the increase of their salaries with the

Ministry of Human Resource Development

(HRD).


Though the minister agreed that their issues regarding the salary increment were important, he first chided the teachers for only speaking about their salary crunch in their opening address and skipping important issues such as their vision for education and shaping students in the years to come during his speech at the event.

PB Prathap Kumar, regional general secretary of the AIKVTA in his welcome address said, “Even though teachers are key contributors in society, we are one of the few government employees whose salaries have not been revised as per the seventh pay commission. Our salaries are calculated as per the fourth pay commission.”

Alphons Kannanthanam, who praised the Kendriya Vidyalaya teachers for their efforts said that he will submit a representation from the teachers to the HRD ministry with regards to their demand for an increase in their salary.
