UDF wave sweeps Kerala, says Ramesh Chennithala

Kottayam: A strong wave in favour of UDF is sweeping across Kerala, ensuring a change in governance, Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala said. Speaking to reporters in Haripad on Tuesday, Chennithala said the people are ready to vote against the misrule of LDF.

The chief minister and the Left Front are adopting a disrespectful approach towards candidates and leaders, violating political decorum, Chennithala said.

CM calling senior leaders like G Sudhakaran ‘chetta', is extremely unfortunate. CPM's fear of Sudhakaran winning with a huge majority in Ambalapuzha is prompting such low-level statements, he added.


There is intense protest in the highland regions against LDF's anti-farmer stance, Chennithala continued.

The manifesto's promise to establish a buffer zone along the forest border is akin to putting a noose around the farmers' necks. They are now making amendments to the manifesto out of fear of public anger. The incident of a farmer dying by suicide at CPI office in Vaikom is painful. The minister for agriculture, who is pushing farmers towards suicide, has no right to remain in power, Chennithala said.

"Govt's much-touted ‘Progress Card' is merely a facade and an attempt to cover corruption. If people accepted this, govt would not have lost the last elections. Furthermore, the amicus curiae report appointed by court has confirmed that the 2018 floods were man-made, validating the previous stance. Pinarayi govt bears full responsibility for submerging Kerala through unscientific dam management," he said.

"The people of Haripad know the truth, and I have firm belief that they will always stand with me. Regardless of whether central leaders like Amit Shah or Narendra Modi come, the voters will support me. I will win the constituency with a huge majority," the senior Congress leader said.
