UDF manifesto to be ‘people-centric’

Kochi: In a strategic move to ensure grassroots participation, United Democratic Front (UDF) has invited the general public to contribute to its manifesto for the upcoming Kerala assembly elections. The decision was formalized during the manifesto committee's inaugural meeting on Friday, signaling opposition's intent to build a "people-centric" platform.

A committee, led by its chairman Benny Behanan, outlined an extensive schedule for regional consultations to gather diverse perspectives from across the state. UDF will host specialized zonal meetings in three major hubs — Thiruvananthapuram on Feb 25, Ernakulam on Feb 28 and Kozhikode on March 3.


For digital accessibility, the front has also opened dedicated channels for submissions. Citizens can send their policy recommendations, grievances and developmental visions to the committee via email at udfmanifesto2026@gmail.com or through a dedicated WhatsApp helpline at 9013997193.

The high-profile meeting saw the participation of senior UDF leaders, including opposition leader V D Satheesan and UDF convener Adoor Prakash. Other prominent attendees included N K Premachandran, N Shamsudheen, Mons Joseph and representatives from various constituent parties like C P John, Jebi Mather and Anoop Jacob.

Through the exercise, UDF aims to focus on local issues and community-driven solutions. The committee emphasized that the final document would reflect genuine aspirations of Keralites, bridging the gap between political promises and public needs.
