Two stabbed to death in separate incidents
KOCHI
: Two people werestabbed
to death in separate incidents in the district on Sunday night.Police said the duo was sitting on the footsteps leading to the house of Shanmughan. Both were under the influence of alcohol. They got engaged in a war of words and the accused stabbed on the chest of Suresh using a knife. Hearing Suresh’s cry, his parents and neighbours rushed him to hospital, where he died.
In the melee to take Suresh to the hospital, the accused escaped from the spot. He was later arrested from Eroor on Monday evening.
In another incident, Sangeeth Krishna (19) of Puthenvelikara was stabbed to death by his friend at Kallamparambu around 9pm on Sunday.
Krishna and his friend Clinton Francis were coming on a bike. They were stopped by the suspects Krishna Dev, an Alappuzha native, and his friend Jefry at Kallamparambu. Dev and Krishna got into a war of words and in the middle of the brawl, Dev stabbed on the left rib of Krishna.
Francis also sustained injuries when he tried to prevent Dev from stabbing Krishna. Instead of calling others for help, the injured Francis rode the bike for almost two kilometres. Krishna collapsed when the bike reached at Bazar Junction. Seeing this, residents alerted the police. The injured were then taken to a hospital in the police jeep. Krishna died on the way to the hospital.
Meanwhile, a 66-year-old man, who was admitted to a hospital after being assaulted by his relatives, succumbed to injuries at Perumbavoor on Sunday evening. The deceased was identified as Baby, a resident of Aimury at Perumbavoor.
Police said Baby, who runs a fruit stall near Perumbavoor Taluk Hospital, had a fight with his nephews Akhil and Mithun at his shop on Sunday afternoon over a property issue.
As the heated exchange turned aggressive, both the nephews along with their friend Subin Sugathan, a resident of Valayanchirangara, attacked Baby with wooden planks and fled the scene.
Perumbavoor police have registered a case and arrested Subin (27) and two others Shamshad Shamsudeen (28) of Kaduval and Muhammed Aslam (23) of Kanjirakkal who helped Sugathan to hide.
Akhil and Mithun are still on the run and police are searching for them.
