NEW DELHI: Two more victims have died from injuries sustained in the fireworks accident at a temple near Neeleswaram in Kasaragod district, raising the total death count to 4.
Biju, aged 38, and Shibinraj, aged 19, succumbed to severe burns at a private hospital in Kozhikode on Sunday night, officials said on Monday.
Previously, two other people had also died from the incident. According to the Kasaragod district administration, a total of 154 individuals were injured, and 100 of them are currently admitted to various hospitals for treatment.
The incident occurred late on October 28 night at the Anjoottanbalam Veererkavu temple when stored firecrackers exploded.
Three individuals, including two temple committee officials, have been arrested in connection with the incident. They are being charged under the Explosive Substance Act and various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
