Two, including minor, held for sexual abuse of teenager in Idukki

IDUKKI: Santanpara police on Friday arrested two youths, including a minor boy, for the sexual abuse of a 17-year-old girl from Poopara in Idukki.
According to police, the youths were arrested after the survivor gave a statement against the accused during counselling. The accused are Poopara resident Sanoop, 22, and a 17-year-old boy. Santanpara circle inspector Anil George said that a 17-year-old girl was sexually abused by her relative last year, and a 40-year man was arrested in connection with the case.After the incident, the survivor was shifted to a child protection centre.
“In a recent counselling session, the girl stated that three youths, including a minor, sexually abused her. The police then registered cases against three persons on Thursday and arrested two of them on Friday,” George said.
“To arrest the third accused we need to confirm his identity. The probe is still going on,” said George, continuing, “The minor accused was produced before JJ court. We slapped Pocso and rape charges against the accused.” tnn
