Two arrested with narcotic substances in Kochi

Kochi: City police arrested two men with narcotic substances at Millupadi area near Infopark late on Wednesday night. The arrested persons are Amit Gopidas, 25, of Kottayam and Jeffry, 22, of Thrikkakara. The accused were caught with 50 LSD stamps and 63.538g of hybrid cannabis.Acting on a confidential information received by Kochi city police commissioner Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar, city District anti-narcotics special action force (Dansaf) team held an inspection in the area. A team led by narcotics cell assistant commissioner T D Sunilkumar conducted the inspection.Police are conducting a detailed inquiry into the source of LSD stamps and hybrid cannabis. The police also seized over Rs 1 lakh, believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking, from the accused.In addition, during an inspection near Cheranalloor Godown Road, a Dansaf team seized 500g ganja from a West Bengal native as well. Arrested person is Aliraj Sarkar, 43, of Sahib Nagar, Murshidabad. The accused was booked under the relevant sections of NDPS Act. He was produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.
