Two arrested with 5g of MDMA in Ernakulam

Kochi: Two persons were arrested with 5g of MDMA on Friday night. The arrested individuals were identified as Abu Bakkar Siddique, 42, from Aluva, and Smisha, 31, from Keezhmadu. The accused were apprehended by a special investigation team led by Perumbavoor ASP.They were taken into custody from a lodge at Perumbavoor Oushadhi Junction. The investigation followed a tip-off received by district police chief M Hemalatha. The drugs were being sold to young people in small packets at a rate of Rs 1,000 each, said police.According to police, Siddique has five existing drug cases at Aluva and Perumbavoor police stations. He was previously arrested with one gram of MDMA by the team last Dec and spent 72 days in jail. He was released on bail on March 1. After his release, he continued selling drugs, sourcing them from Bangaluru, police said.The investigation team included Perumbavoor ASP Shakti Singh Arya, inspector TM Sufi, SIs PM Rasikh, Joshi Thomas, ASIs PA Abdul Manaf, Reni, senior CPOs TA Afsal, Varghese Venatt, Benny Isaac, Basil and Sibin Sunny.
