Two arrested near Oachira for selling liquor illegally

KOLLAM: Oachira police arrested two people for illegally selling liquor at Alumpeedika near Oachira. Santhosh(33), from Prayar South, Clappana, and Manilal (31), of Vavalloor Laksham Veedu, Alumpeedika, were the arrested.
According to police, Santhosh, a head load worker at the Bevco outlet in Alumpeedika, managed to buy liquor in huge quantity and stocked it at the house of his friend Manilal in order to sell it to people who are ready to pay at any rate.
On Wednesday night, he sold a bottle of Jawan to a person for Rs 2,000. Feeling exploited, the person later intimated the matter to the police. Acting on the complaint, police arrested Santhosh and Manilal and got them remanded. A team led by station House officer Prakash seized three bottles of liquor and one litre of toddy from Manilal’s house. Subinspectors Padmakumar, Syamkumar and CPO Ranjith were in the team.
