Touring Talkies festival begins on campuses
KOCHI: As part of promoting the 10th edition of ‘SiGNS’ short film and documentary festival, the two day touring talkies has started at the college campuses and other venues in Kochi. The festival is being organised by Federation of Film Societies of India (FFSI), Kerala, in association with the Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF). The five day event which starts on September 28 will screen 200 short films and documentaries at Ernakulam Town Hall.
Touring talkies was held at Union Christian College Aluva, Amrita College, Edappally, Ernakulam Public Library, and Changampuzha Park, Edappally on Thursday.

Screening will be held at St.Alberts college, Government Law College, Maharajas College, Sacred Heart College, Thevara and Vasco de Gama Square,Fort Kochi on Friday. The guest of honour during the screening at UC College was Shanavas K Bavakkutty, director of the Movie, Kismath.
The 10th edition of SiGNS festival will feature a retrospective on the works of Rakesh Sharma and Pramod Pati, a homage section to Iranian film-maker Abbas Kiarostami , litterateur Mahasweta Devi and film-maker Bala Kailasam, a lengthy documentary series named ‘Director’s Pick’ , a package of documentary films from Africa named ‘Artists Cinema ’, a short fiction package curated by Premendra Majumdar and ‘Best of Insights’, a collection of award winning short films from Haiku film Festival.
Short films and documentaries from 25 Indian languages will be screened under the Competition and Focus sections. Seminars and open forums with film-makers from around the country, will also take place on the sidelines.
