Three siblings killed in Tamil Nadu accident


KOCHI: Three siblings hailing from

Kakkanad

here were killed when the car they were travelling collided with a speeding truck near Karur in Tamil Nadu on Monday. The deceased have been identified as Backer A P (55), Asiya (48) and

Naseema

(45).

The mishap occurred in the morning when the passengers, including Shafi (26) and

Tanooja

(14), children of Naseema, were going for a pilgrim to

Nagore Dargah

in Tamil Nadu.

Though the injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, they were declared brought dead. It is learnt that Shafi and Tanooja are out of danger.

The family had left their home for the famous dargah at 3am on Monday. “Shafi was working as an imam at a mosque in Coimbatore. According to reports, both the vehicles were speeding,“ said the Infopark police.

The bodies currently kept at a hospital in Trichy will be handed over to relatives after postmortem.
