Kochi: Angamaly police arrested three more persons in connection with the incident in which a policeman was hit by a car during a vehicle inspection at Angamaly on Sunday. The arrested have been identified as Arun Sibi (24) from Thodupuzha, Amal (24) from Kodikulam and Jofin John (25) from Kalayanthani in Idukki.
The car hit the police at TB Junction and sped away.
Soon after the incident, Ajmal Subair (29) from Thodupuzha and Rinshad (30) from Chooravelil were arrested.
The investigation team involved DSP T R Rajesh, inspectors R V Arun Kumar, K Pradeep Kumar and Jayaprasad, and senior CPOs Ajitha Tilak and P K Shihab.
SHRC summons officials for accident involving cable: State human rights commission (SHRC) has intervened in the incident in which Imam Abdul Aziz of Iqra Mosque, Kalamassery, was grievously injured after his two-wheeler lost control after getting entangled in a cable lying on the road.
SHRC chairperson Justice Alexander Thomas ordered district police chief (Kochi city) and senior officials assigned by Kalamassery municipal secretary to appear directly before the commission sitting to provide a detailed explanation of the incident. Public works department executive engineer (Kakkanad) must also appear directly at the sitting to be held at PWD Rest House at Pathadippalam at 10.30am on Sept 13.
