Three held for abducting kids

Kochi: Vadakkekara police on Tuesday arrested two men and a woman for allegedly kidnapping two children of a migrant couple from Assam. According to police, the arrested have been identified as Raham Ali (26), Jahad Ali (26) and Shahnas Beegum (60). The kidnap was planned by Sahida, a distant relative of the couple, who took the children to Assam. All the accused are from Assam.
Following instructions by the police here, the children along with Sahida were intercepted at Guwahati Airport. Police said the children who were studying in grades 3 and 5 were allegedly kidnapped while waiting for school bus. The migrant couple is staying at a rented house at Machamthuruth in Vadakkekara.
A special team has been sent to Assam to bring the children along with Sahida back to Kerala.
Man held for job fraud:
Hill Palace police on Tuesday arrested a Pukkattupady native in connection with a job fraud case. The arrested person is identified as Sony George (50). According to police, George was running a job agency offering fake jobs and siphoned off money from aspirants. Several complaints registered against George allege that he duped lakhs of rupees from many. The accused was produced before the magistrate and remanded for a fortnight.
Gold worth around 30L seized from Cial:
Customs Air Intelligence Unit at the Cochin International Airport Ltd (Cial) foiled yet another attempt to smuggle gold through the airport. A total of 529.50g of gold was seized from the passenger on Monday. Mahmood of Kasaragod was arrested for smuggling the gold worth around Rs 29.42 lakh.
