Kochi: Two shops at a commercial shopping complex along Convent Road near Shenoy’s Junction were allegedly burgled early on Thursday.
It was an online firm and a digital camera service centre which were hit. The entry to the stairs of the targeted building was shuttered and the accused seems to have got to the first floor by scaling the compound wall of the adjacent building complex, police said.
A laptop, a digital camera and two flashes, and Rs 2,600 in cash were stolen from the online firm. Police said that over 250 cameras kept for servicing and Rs 10,000 in cash were reportedly stolen from the camera service centre. The memory card of the CCTV camera system was stolen, sources said.
Man held for abduction
Kochi: Perumbavoor police arrested one more person for the alleged abduction and assault of a man on Thursday.
Maseebul Rahman, 32, of Nagaon in Assam was the accused. The case pertains to the incident in which a three-member gang abducted an Assam native and assaulted him before robbing him of Rs 50,000. Police have already arrested two persons in the case.
Two held for dumping sewage
Kochi: South police arrested two persons for dumping sewage along MG Road early on Thursday. Shabir of Palluruthy and Jibson James of Fort Kochi are the arrested. tnn
