Tamil Nadu woman, lover found dead in room

THRISSUR: The bodies of Sajith (28) from Marottichal in Thrissur and Anitha (35) from Erode in Tamil Nadu were found hanging in the room of a lodge in Chalakudy on Saturday. The police identified them as the son of Kallingal Sabu and daughter of Parameswaran from Lakshmi Nagar in Erode.
Anitha and Sajith were closely related and hailed from Marottichal. Anitha’s family had shifted to Erode long ago.Anitha was married and had two children, while Sajith remained a bachelor, said Chalakudy CI Sandeep KS.
Two years ago, she eloped with Sajith and she also took her children with her. Police at Erode had then registered cases against Anitha and Sajith. The families had no details about their whereabouts after that incident. The evidence received now indicates that they were staying in Alappuzha and had come to Chalakudy around 10 days ago. They were planning to take a house on rent in Angamaly, and were staying at the lodge for the time being, said the officer.
Police said Anitha’s children, aged 10 and 12, were sleeping in the room when the duo allegedly committed suicide. They noticed the bodies when they woke up on Saturday and their screams alerted the occupants in the neighbouring rooms.
The children are now in the custody of the child welfare committee in Thrissur. The CI said a suicide note was recovered from the lodge room. He said Anitha and Sajith were facing financial problems and had even borrowed money from the lodge manager.
