THRISSUR: A note allegedly recovered on Monday from the body of
Kolanchery Veettil Saji
(49), who was found hanging at his house at Peechi on Sunday, has blamed local CPM leaders for the suicide. Saji, a headload worker, had recently left CITU and formed an independent union.

Saji
had been saying that he was facing threats to his life from local CITU and CPM leaders for the last couple of days. Saji and some colleagues had left CITU over six months ago after he raised allegations, including financial irregularities, against local leaders. They had formed an independent union and started working there, without wearing the CITU uniform.
But most of those who stood with Saji returned to CITU following pressure from the party, Biju said.
Saji had been feeling isolated and was very depressed as he was a strong party loyalist. “Saji was an innocent and sensitive person," Biju said
Meanwhile, local CITU activists clashed against each other after the suicide note surfaced. There were also attacks on the local CITU office in which flags and campaign materials were destroyed. CITU district secretary

denied the allegations against the organisation and said strict action will be taken if anyone is found involved. Saji was staying with his 73-year-old mother and brother Biju.
