"This is a sure sign of deteriorating standard of engineering education in our state. Professionals must keep on learning from different experiences in life and continue their upward growth," he said, while speaking to students at Mar Athanasius Engineering College,

Kothamangalam

, on Friday.

Calling for drastic overhauling of the education system and curriculum for the betterment of society and the progress of the nation, Sreedharan said that engineering colleges and technical institutions should strive towards creating honest, dedicated, punctual and socially-committed engineers.

Emphasizing the need to inculcate moral values in students by bringing systemic changes in syllabi and curriculum, he said: "I have discussed about the introduction of moral values in education system with the state education minister and expect that we would have great changes in future".
