KOCHI: Police have arrested three managers of a jewellery outlet in Angamaly for allegedly swindling gold ornaments worth Rs 2.35 crore.
The trio was arrested based on a complaint filed by Ashiq Xavier, regional manager of Joy Alukkas branch in Angamaly. The arrested are jewellery outlet manager Shine Joshy, assistant manager Franko, mall manager Poulose.
“The accused handed over about 7,202.9g of gold to one of the accused Sharmila Rajiv between May and November after manipulating the stock records. The accused then resold the ornaments and shared the money among themselves,” said police.
An FIR was filed against the accused under the IPC sections for cheating and all of the managers were arrested. Meanwhile, the fourth accused Sharmila moved a petition for anticipatory bail. The accused is yet to be arrested. Police said that she would be held once the court considers her anticipatory bail plea.
Burglars loot home: Burglars broke into the house of Kizhakkambalam native Joby A and made off with 57 gold sovereigns and Rs1 lakh. Joby and family had gone for a religious gathering between 5pm and 9pm when the incident happened.
olice said that the victim was a businessman and had kept the money at home in old currency. An FIR of theft has been filed at Kunnathunad police station.
Goons arrested: Two more goons have been arrested by the police in separate goonda attack cases. This also including the Sanal Kumar murder case.
Jomon Joy (22) is one of the accused in the murder case while the other, a juvenile, was part of the gang that attacked one Ridhin Raj. He was booked for attempt to murder.
They were traced from a hide-out at Baroda in Gujarat. Jomon was produced before a local court and remanded in custody. The 17-year-old juvenile was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. The duo had been absconding for the past couple of months and were staying at locations outside Kerala.
