Six persons were arrested in two synthetic drug cases in Kochi
Kochi: Ernakulam rural police arrested six persons in two separate cases with synthetic drugs.Two individuals were arrested by police with 550g of MDMA worth lakhs. Muhsin, 28, from Kunnumpuram, Fort Kochi and Mohammed Sahil, 25, from Thuruthi, were apprehended by Dansaf squad and Angamaly police on Friday. The accused procured the drugs from Bangalore and travelled by bike to Vaniyampaara. They then took a taxi towards Kochi for distribution but were intercepted and detained by police at Angamaly. The drugs were found hidden in a special compartment within a flask. These individuals are key figures in the city's drug network, police said. Meanwhile, four people were arrested with 3.5g of MDMA. Abhijith Purushothaman, 24, from Chengamanad, Shelji K, 28, from Nooranad, Rishad, 26, from Thrikkakara and Rinsi Mumtaz, 32, from Farook, Kozhikode, were caught by Dansaf and Nedumbassery police on Saturday. They were staying in a hotel room in the Kariyad area. Police said the drugs were stored in a zip-lock bag, and their target was to sell around the airport. They have previous criminal records, and the woman was recently released from remand, police said.
