trade union leader
reportedly told the officer that someone might have hired the alleged assailant, Unnikrishnan V, to eliminate him.
Unnikrishnan, 45, of Vadakara, allegedly stabbed Gopinath on the neck at Palarivattom, while the latter was returning after inaugurating a protest meet of taxi and auto rickshaw drivers on November 8.
Behera visited Gopinath based on an open letter to the chief minister by Divya and her sister Vidya.
Speaking to reporters after his meeting with the DGP, Gopinath said the police chief had assured to hand over the probe to a special team. The CITU leader expressed dissatisfaction over the ongoing investigation.
Behera said the trade unionist had serious reservations regarding the progress of the present probe.
Gopinath, who had been undergoing treatment, was discharged from a Kochi hospital on Saturday.
