Kochi: Police investigating the Elanthoor human sacrifice case on Thursday said that the prime accused Muhammed Shafi was continuing his non-cooperation during the interrogation.
Sources said that the police strongly suspect the possibility of Shafi victimizing more persons due to his sexual perversions.
However, police are yet to get strong evidence that could lead to more victims. Officers said that primary investigations indicate him being perverse enough to be a cannibal.
Meanwhile, police are yet to confirm Shafi’s claim that the phone, which was used for his social media activities, was destroyed. The custody period of the accused will end on October 24. Police said that the accused had to be taken for evidence collection to more places based on the revelations during their interrogation.
All the accused were taken to the house in Elanthoor belonging to the other two accused Bhagaval Singh and his wife Laila.
Also, Shafi was taken to locations in Kochi where he contacted the victim Padmam. Police had even recreated the crime scene using an effigy at the house in Elanthoor.
However, police were unable to recover an anklet and a mobile phone that belongs to a victim (Padmam) which was reportedly dumped in the Alappuzha-Changanassery Canal by Shafi after her murder.
He decided to abandon the anklet, usually used by Tamil women, based on the assumption that pawning it would raise suspicion.
