Palakkad: A leopard strayed into a residential area at Payattukadu in Kanjikode, Palakkad, and killed a cow, triggering concern among residents.
The incident occurred at Chembalathara, where the cow belonging to resident Suresh was found dead. It is suspected that the attack took place late on Saturday night or in the early hours of Sunday. Family members discovered the carcass in the cowshed.
Following information from residents, forest department officials reached the spot and carried out a preliminary inspection.
The area has been witnessing frequent wildlife intrusions, including the presence of leopards and wild elephants. "While wild elephants have been causing extensive crop damage in recent months, the latest leopard attack has heightened fear among residents," said a farmer.
