Saudi woman complains of harassment, vlogger booked

Kochi: Ernakulam Central police registered a case for sexual harassment against a popular Malayali vlogger on a complaint filed by a woman, a Saudi Arabia national.A case was registered against Shakeer Suban, a popular Youtuber who runs a YouTube channel Mallu Traveler, after the complainant, a 29-year-old from Mecca, lodged the petition on Friday, said police.Soon after reports of the case surfaced, Suban, who was in Canada, posted a video claiming innocence and alleging ulterior motives of the complainant. The complainant alleged that Suban tried to sexually harass her when she went to his room at a hotel in Kochi along with her friend, a Malayali, in the early hours of Wednesday, police said. The allegation was that Suban allegedly made a move on her when her friend stepped outside.Police registered a case invoking sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 354A (i) (sexual harassment, physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures) of the IPC.TNN

Kerala HC quashes sexual assault case against Unni Mukundan as complainant settles

The High Court of Kerala has dismissed a sexual assault case against actor Unni Mukundan after the complainant stated that the matter had been resolved. The court had initially rejected the actor's plea to dismiss the case when the complainant alleged that the settlement agreement was fraudulent. The origins of the case date back to 2017 when the complainant accused Mukundan of sexual abuse. The actor denied the allegations, claiming they were fabricated. Mukundan's recent film "Malikappuram" has been a success, and he has upcoming projects such as "Bruce Lee" and "Gandharva Jr.

IG-rank officer chargesheeted in sexual harassment case

An IPS officer of inspector-general rank, S Murugan, is set to face trial for sexual harassment charges filed against him by a woman IPS officer. The chargesheets have been filed by CBCID, and once Murugan receives a copy of the chargesheet, charges will be framed for the trial. The complaint was lodged four years ago, accusing Murugan of sexual harassment and assault. The Tamil Nadu governor has given sanction for the prosecution of Murugan for various offenses related to harassment of women.

Ex-WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh not exonerated by oversight panel in sexual harassment case: Police

Former WFI chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who is accused of sexually harassing women wrestlers, was not exonerated by the oversight committee set up by the government to investigate the allegations. The committee had provided recommendations but not a decision, according to the Delhi police. Singh appeared in court during the proceedings. The Union Sports Ministry had formed the committee, headed by MC Mary Kom, to investigate the claims made by women wrestlers. The Delhi police will continue arguing charges against Singh on September 23.
