Kochi: As schools have closed for summer vacations, Regional Sports Centre (RSC), Cochin, has launched Summer Coaching Camp 2026, which will run until May 31, offering structured training in 27 sports disciplines along with 11 allied activity modules. Camp aims to nurture young talent under the guidance of experienced and eminent coaches, promoting a culture of sporting excellence among participants.
RSC is an autonomous sports institution governed by a unique three-tier administrative structure. District collector serves as chairperson, while city commissioner is president.
A major highlight of the camp is selection of 24 outstanding trainees — three boys and three girls each — from badminton, tennis, table tennis and swimming for Prathibha Scheme – To Produce Champions. The initiative, with an outlay of Rs 3 crore over three years, will provide free, high-performance training to selected athletes. The programme is designed to identify and groom promising sportspersons for national and international competitions, offering them advanced facilities and expert mentorship to elevate their performance.
