KOZHIKODE: Police on Monday received another ATM skimming complaint in which fraudsters looted Rs 1.49 lakh from the account of the State Bank of India’s (
SBI) Annie Hall Road branch.
As per the complaint filed by the SBI manager of the branch, the amount was withdrawn from the account of the bank by unidentified people from December 20, 2017, to January 20, 2018. The withdrawal was carried out several times from the same ATM.
As per the bank records, the withdrawal was carried out using the ATM of the bank near the branch.
The town police have started investigation into the incident.
Police have directed the bank authorities to handover the CCTV footage from the ATM counter. They have also directed to close down the ATM counter for investigation purpose.
Police and bank authorities are clueless on how the fraudster managed to withdraw money from the account of the bank.
“We are not in a position to say anything about the modus operandi or other details. We will interrogate the employees of the bank,” said an officer with town police station.
Meanwhile, the police team probing the ATM skimming case is likely to record the arrest of the accused in the case in a couple of days. The police team has traced the identity of the accused and are waiting to collect more evidences about the fraud.
